The Day My Greyhound Lost To A Girl Named Audrey

Standard

Finally, I went to Central Embassy this morning. The swanky new mall everyone was raving about, with all the latest shopping ranges and best cafes and restaurants.

Today was Chanidapa’s last day in Bangkok and she had requested to go to Central Embassy for shopping and have a fabulous lunch before she flies back to Lampang. Okie….. so I done my homework…. its either Issaya La Patisserie (I am a big fan of Thai Iron Chef Ian Kittichai, so I am keen to try his new stuff), or Audrey Cafe & Bistro (heard of rave reviews, but not tried as yet).

In the end, I have to admit, looks do sell, and we were blown away by Audrey’s Victorian Style cafe look. Sorry, Chef Ian, will do your cafe’s review next trip!

Audrey is huge! The cake collection is wow!The main entrance

Off we went…. excited to explore what came next. Ushered to out seats in no time, and the table lamp already caught my attention….. so Victorian style and cool!

The menu, I would say is kinda bulky, but classy. 🙂

Menu

Ordered  our choices and waited excitedly for the platters to show up. Surprisingly, the food came pretty fast (a plus point for me as I love prompt service).

First up…. Tom Yum Goong thin crust pizza! This is a wow…. Thai Italian fusion. Taste is just nice, not too cheesy, not too spicy, well balanced without the hint of over cooked. A winner for me. 🙂

Next up is an absolute favorite for me, Squid ink spaghetti with seafood in tomato paste. I am a sucker for squid ink spaghetti, and this is one of the more well balanced ones too, not overly oily or sticky, and the ink does not splatter all over you when you slurped hard enough. The other ingredients, the typical squid, prawn, fish etc, is exactly in place.

Final dish, the signature dish of Audrey… Crab souffle.

This was a WOW! I must say…. if 320 baht for this does’t turn you off, you were paying for what you had ordered! First look, you would think whats this oversized muffin, which was accompanied by a small bowl of lobster puree soup? This ain’t a muffin folks, soft souffle on the top; at the bottom was crab roe, as well as crab meat. You need to break this oversized souffle, pout the lobster puree soup in, and viola! An awesomeness taste emerge! Everyone should try this at least once…. I bet my life on this!

How could we forget drinks on such a hot day? Here we go…

I just had bottled water, keep it simple to wash my palette was essential.

Chanidapa had the Blissfully Granita from the Blissful Autumn special menu. Made up of orange juice, mint leaves, soda, green mango, blended with ice, a real thirst quencher on a hot Monday! Grab this while this last!

No room for dessert today; we had our fill from the fabulous 3 dishes, save the desserts for another review!

Chanidapa did agree that this was the best cafe meal she had so far in Bangkok. Mission accomplished! ^^

Overall, the ambience here is very nice, and this is the 3rd branch under Audrey Cafe & Bistro. A good place to join the Hi-So crowd, or to impress your date, or clinch the deal with prospective mother-in-law.!

Address to this lovely place:-

Audrey Cafe Glamour, 5Fl.,Central Embassy,  Ploenchit Road, Bangkok, Thailand 10330

Opening Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Also, this venue beats my default favorite Greyhound Cafe by a notch. Sorry Greyhound, you need to work harder to win me back!
